Chisapani -Nagarkot -Dhulikhel -04 Days

This trip is designed to provide you exotic feeling of being close in nature, villages or best described as rural Nepal and at the most it offers you awe inspiring majesty and beauty of dramatic mountain views. Your first destination is Chisapani where you will be enjoying the real boon of nature being away from the hubbub of city and your interaction with the local people will add another experience. Early sunrise view at Nagarkot is the most fascinating and mesmerising view. Dhulikhel is your next destination. Treading along the unexplored trails of Dhulikhel can be very exhilarating and enriching experience.  The stupa and shrines at Namobuddha in addition to temples at Dhulikhel are worth visiting as it will depict a holy feeling and tremendous peace in you.
Best season to visit: In the spring (March to May) when the rhododendrons, the national flower of Nepal, are in bloom. Also in the fall (September to November) or post-monsoon when the weather is temperate and the skies are clear.

Trek Grade: Moderate. This is not a difficult trek although it has some steep climbs. No mountaineering skills required. This itinerary offers a gradual gain of the altitude to greatly reduce the risk of altitude sickness.

Maximum altitude: 5416m at Throung Pass.

Length of trek: The trek can be completed in a minimum of fifteen days, starting in Kathmandu and finishing in Pokhara. If a few extra days are allowed for it is then possible to enjoy several of the possible side trips and add immeasurably to the experience. It is advisable to spend three weeks along this route to fully experience the full scenic and cultural splendor.

Accommodations: This is traditionally a teahouse trek with well-maintained facilities along the route. It can also be organized as a camping trek as the valley floor can provide comfortable camping spots in good weather. Camping trek rates and fees are considerably higher as more resources are required.

Legal Preparation: Entry permit (NRS 2000) for the Annapurna conservation area project (ACAP) is needed.

Day 01: Kathmandu to Sundarijal
Drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal which takes approximately one hour and trek from Sunjdarijal to Chisapani and it takes about four and half hours. The unpaved road from Kathmandu turns into a trail near a small hydroelectric plant. The trail will enter through the Shivpuri Watershed and Wildlife Reserve. The first settlement you will come across is Mulkharka with Tamang habitants. The route heads down the ridge through a forest of oaks and rhododendron to Chisapani (2300m.)
Day 02: Chisapani to Nagarkot
Trek from Chisapani to Nagarkot which takes about six and half hours. In the morning you are attracted by the northern mountain views. Your trek starts to Chauki Bhanjag, which takes about 2 and half hours. You continue the charming trails leading you toward Nagarkot. Nagarkot, (2175m) is by far one of the most popular destination. In the clear weather the Himalaya range, stretching from Dhaulagiri in the west all the way past Everest to Kanchenjunga in the east, emerges from the darkness to greet the happy visitor with its awe inspiring majesty and beauty.
Day 03: Nagarkot to Dhulikhel
                                                                                                                                                                           Trek from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel which takes about six hours. After you have your share of experiencing the magic of Nagarkot, you are guided along the hiking trails to Dhulikhel. As you approach Dhulikhel, a plethora of cultural diversities, interesting traditional practices, lush vegetation and rich birdlife unfolds before you. Dhulikhel (1440m.) is a small town with a long history. According to the records it has been around for more than 500 years. The artistic skill and urban ethos of its Newar inhabitants have created a place of charm and beauty. Streets are lined with bare-brick houses, carved wooden windows, sloping roofs, pagoda temples and sacred statues everywhere. The major places of worship here are the Narayan and Harisiddhi temples which are adored with profuse wood carvings. The Gokhureswar Mahadev temple, a 30 minutes walk to the eastern part of town, is a peaceful and scenic spot. The Bhagawati temple is situated at a height in the western part of Dhulikhel and dominates the skyline. From here, you can get a beautiful vista of the town and surrounding areas.
Day 04:  Dhulikhel to Namo Buddha – Panauti
Trek from Dhulikhel to Namo Buddha-Panauti and it takes approximately four and half hours and drive from Panauti to Kathmandu which takes about one and half hours. From Dhulikhel, the trail climbs up to the Kali Mandir, a temple dedicated to Goddess Kali. From there the trail drops down to the village of Kavre and past a line of shops and tea houses. It then climbs again through pine woods past Phulbari and up and down a couple of more hills before you reach the hill of NamoBuddha.
Namobouddha situated at an elevation of 1750m is very important Buddhist Pilgrimage located in Kavre District about 38 km east of Kathmandu. The Stupa and shrines built in this lovely little hill mark a very ancient holy site significantly enough where a legendary prince named Mahasattva offered himself to a starving Tigress with its several underfed cubs. This legendary episode is depicted in a very nice stone slab and placed right next to a holy Stupa.
