Trishuli River Rafting

River is the main sources and most powerful and attractive forces on natural part of Nepal. There are several excellent rivers in Nepal which offer brilliant rafting or canoeing. Trishuli, Seti, Bhotekoshi, Kali Gandaki, Marshyangdi, Sunkoshi, Arun, Karnali, Tamur are the main excellent rivers for rafting or canoeing. Nepal's rivers are second to none, originating from the glaciers of the worlds highest mountains, they plunge through towering gorges and forested foothills before the more tranquil journey along the Ganges plain on their way to the Bay of Bengal. Rivers here are regarded as goddesses, and are included in a number of Hindu and Buddhist religious rituals. There are clear sandy beaches to camp or take a meal, and cool clear pools to bathe.  On these rivers you will find the world's most thrilling whitewaters with a wide range of difficulties and warm water. There is no more relaxing experience, any better way of getting from Kathmandu valley to the jungles of the Chitwan Valley, a drop of thousands of feet in new heavenly miles. Experience water rapids grade 2 to 7 in a beautiful environment of colorful villages, subtropical vegetation and friendly people will be unforgettable. River journeys range from one-day short-cut excursions to 11-day long way expeditions. Each offers incredibly unique knowledge and engenders a lifetime record.

The Trishuli is the most easily accessible river and most popular rafting river where people can do normally one or two days rafting. The river is easily reached from either Kathmandu or Pokhara. The trip can also be extended into the Royal Chitwan National Park. This river is also popular with intermediate kayakers. This river is known as blast of moon sun flows.
Trishuli being the most easily accessible river by far a rafting trip on this river can be made for a varied durations, depending upon the availability of time and interest.
Best season to visit: October –December and mid February –May

Length of Raft: It is advisable to do 03 days along this route to fully experience the river rafting in Nepal.

General Information: The Trisuli River is Nepal's most popular rafting river. Impressive gorges, exciting rapids, some easier sections, and easily accessible from Kathmandu and Pokhara. Recommended for intermediate kayakers and those wanting a cheap white water trip. Not far from the source the Trisuli joins the Bhote Kosi that flows from Tibet. The two rivers joining in some pretty fearsome looking gorges that are visible on the way up to the Langtang Trek. The Buri river, the Marsyandi and the Seti river ads to its flow. When the Kali Gandaki joins it, shortly before the plains, it changes its name to the Narayani. Here, it is a truly mighty river, peak flows in the Monsoon have been measured at 25,700 cusec (extreme, instantaneous discharge) about 900,000 cubic feet per second or fifty times the typical flow of Colorado river through the Grand Canyon.

Additional Information: Put in Point is Charaudi (altitude 625m) and take out point is Jugedi (altitude 170m). Average gradient is 0.30% and maximum gradient is 0.80% and the volume in November is 140M3/sec.

Outline Itinerary:

Note – Our Itinerary does not include your arrival and departure day to and from Kathmandu, and our fixed dates are the trekking starting date from Kathmandu. And, our river guides will give briefing every evening for the next day. So, any information not covered now by this itinerary can be discussed then.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 01: Kathmandu to Charaudi:
We leave Kathmandu at about 0700 Hours and drive approximately 3 hrs. to Charaundi, our put-in point. After the crew assembles the raft, they will explain the safety equipment and proper procedures. During the day, we run a numbers of rapids, that rate to 2 to 3. All the rapids have been given Nepali and English names: our guide can relate the story behind each one. We lunch on a beach remarkable for its unique sculptured boulders. Shortly after lunch we enter the Trishuli gorge. As the canyon narrows the walls becomes steep, densely, forested, the current accelerates and the rapid increase in the size and frequency. This is the time to hang on. After such a stimulating experience, it is humbling to see a Majhi (Fisherman) building his precarious traps in such turbulence. Our last rapid, Jholungepul, is named for an extensive suspension bridge. Here we often encounter an enthusiastic audience, they line the bridge excited to see us pass beneath. The geologic formation is tremendously interesting and not worthy. We camp at Kurintar on a sandy beach on the Trishuli beach. Every one is welcome to help our crew with camp chores. Once the tents are pitched a savoury dinner will be prepare over stoves.

Day 02: Charaudi to Kathmandu:
Our second day has a leisurely pace. After we continue down the Trishuli stopping to suit our interests. We spend the whole day within its forested canyon- one of the many in the Mahabharat range. We eat lunch beside the river and have time to explore, birdwatch, photograph and learn about the local people. The area is inhabited by Magars and Gurung farmers, noted for noted for their friendliness and charm and we have an opportunity for visiting a Vieira  and  we end our River trip and drive back to Kathmandu/Pokhara/Chitwan..
