Panchpokhari Trek

It is located on the east of Kathmandu from 1400 to 4000 meter up to Panchpokhari. This area offers magnificent views of mountains, rich cultural and natural heritage, and real adventure to the trekkers. Home to Tamang and Sherpa people, have perfect scenery of Jugal himal, tranquil lakes stole your hearts in your lifetime forever.
Trekking in Panch Pokhari is recommended for its rich Flora: the impressive display of berberis, primula, orchids and a variety of Ferns, the valleys set ablaze by yellow blossoms of double Jasmine, the forest dense with Spanish oak, blue pine, and in Spring time blossoming of the rhododendron set whole forest alight in spectacular arrays of color. The trekking route passes through quite Tamang villages, hot spas, gorges and glaciers and reaches Sangjung Kharka and Khola Kharka to view Ganesh Himal V & II, Langtang Li Rung (7,225m) and Paldor etc. Ganesh Himal trekking/Trekking in Ganesh himal region offers a superb opportunity to enjoy magnificent mountains and to discover rich flora in this remote trekking region of Nepal. Between Kathmandu and Pokhara are three major groups of peaks: Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Manaslu and Himal Chuli and the large Annapurna Himal. Ganesh himal trekking is ideal for those wanting to escape from the more popular regions of Annapurna and Everest. It is famous for unspoiled Tamang culture, spectacular views of mountains and colorful rhododendron forest.
Best season to visit: In the spring (March to May) when the rhododendrons, the national flower of Nepal, are in bloom. Also in the fall (September to November) or post-monsoon when the weather is temperate and the skies are clear.

Trek Grade: Moderate. This is not a difficult trek although it has some steep climbs. No mountaineering skills required.

Maximum altitude: 4100m at Panchpokhari (Five Lake).

Length of trek: It is advisable to spend one and half week along this route to fully experience the full scenic and cultural splendor.

Accommodations: This is trek is fusion of camping and tea houses trek as well-maintained facilities along some part of the route. It can also be organized as a fully camping trek as the valley floor can provide comfortable camping spots in good weather. Camping trek rates and fees are considerably higher as more resources are required.

Additional Information: Trekkers must beware of potentially unsafe while passing through the jungle. Our experienced porters/guides will help you to avoid such potentially unsafe situations.

Note – Our Itinerary does not include your arrival and departure day to and from Kathmandu, and our fixed dates are the trekking starting date from Kathmandu.

 

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 01: Kathmandu to Chautaara (1410m)
You are driven to Chautara from Kathmandu observing the beautiful scene on the way. In Chautaara you will see a police post and a large clinic operated by Save the Children, UK. Overnight stay at Camp at Chautara.

Day 02: Chautaara to Syaule
From Chautaara the trail climbs through pleasant hill villages to Syaule. Overnight stay at camp at Syaule.

Day 03: Syaula to Kamikharka Dhanda
Follow the trail onward steadily to Okrin Danda (2300m) from Syaule and continue steeply up through the green forest to Kamikharka Danda. O/vernight stay at camp at Kamikharka Dhanda.

Day 04: Kamikharka Danda to Chyochyo Danda
From Kamikarkha Danda the route continues through an oak and rhododendron forest with magnificent views and reaches the western slopes of Chyochyo Danda. Overnight stay at camp at Chyochyo Danda.

Day 05: Chyochyo Danda to Hile Bhanjyang
The trail ascends steeply across stony grassy pastures to cross the ridge. From here the route descends through the forest and reaches Chang Samarpu (3913m) and then it steeply descends to Hile Bhanjyang. Overnight stay at camp at Hile Bhanjyang.

Day 06: Hile Bhanjyang to Nasem pati (3800m)
The trail climbs steeply to a hillock at 3980m affording you good views and descends along a flagstone trail to Nasem Pati. Overnight stay at camp at Nasem Pati.

Day 07: Nasem Pati to Panch Pokhari (4050m)
From Nasem climbing some hours the trail reaches Panch Pokhari (five holy lakes) where you can see two metal roofed huts, a sheet metal enclosed shrine to Shiva and a pile of cast-iron tridents. In the June/July full moon thousands of Nepalese came here to worship.Overnight stay at camp at Panch Pokhari.

Day 08: Panch Pokhari to Gai Lharka (2530m)
From Panch Pokhari the trail descends through forests passing several ravines and reaches Gai Kharka. Overnight stay at camp at Gai Kharka.

Day 09: Gai Kharka to Yangri (1360m)
The trail descends and continues through the forest crossing two major watercourses and arrives at Yarsa. Descend a small and very steep trail over the bridge of Panch Pokhari Khola and climb to Hutanbrang, and then descend to reach Yangri. Overnight stay at camp at Yangri.

Day 10: Yangri to Laghang Gompa (2800m)
The trail crosses the bridge of Yangri Khola and passes through Yangri village climbing steeply up through villages and fields with pleasant forests. After some time you come to a large village between Dalegaon and Gangkharka called Gangdwang. From here the trail climbs to a beautiful and lovely forested area, Laghang Gompa. Overnight stay at camp at Laghang Gompa.

Day 11: Laghang Gompa to Tarke Gyang (2590m)
From Laghang Gompa the trail climbs through a beautiful forest, small pastures, stone houses and cow trails to arrive at Tarka Gyang. Overnight stay at camp  Tarke Gyang.

Day 12: Tarke Gyang to Shermathang (2610m)
From Tarke Gyang the trail travels to the pretty Sherpa village of Gangyul (2520m). The trail drops through deep forests crossing a number of streams and gets to a large Gompa in Chumik.Having a gentle climb the route leads to a large village, Shermathang where you visit the Langtang National Park office. Overnight stay at camp at Shermathang.

Day 13: Sermathang to Malemchipui Bazaar (880m)
From Shermathang the trail forward passing the settlements of Nigale and Gyalsha, and onwards descends to Raithani Gyang (2290m). From here walking through the chir pine forest you get into Kakani (2000m) and from Kakani the trail drops steeply to the attractive larger village of Dubhachaur (1610m) and to Melamchipul Bazaar. Overnight stay at camp at Melamchipul Bazaar.

Day 14: Melamchipul Bazaar to Kathmandu
From Melamchipul Bazaar drive back to Kathmandu. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.
