Khayar Lake Trek
The Annapurna region of Nepal, a couple of hundred kilometers northwest of Kathmandu, is renowned for its blend of undisturbed nature, spectacular mountain views, and embracing culture. The Annapurna Circuit is typically rated as one of the "top 20" trekking experiences worldwide...Now that is an understatement!
Kahyar Lake situated on western part of Nepal in Annapurna region. It can be define as virgin destination because of a few trekkers has been here yet. It has an enchanting landscape offering glorious views of the Himalayas and plentiful wildlife. Khopra Danda (Hill), Khayar Lake is the tourist attraction point of this trek. Trekkers can have perfect views of the dozens of the mountains over 8,000 meter like Dhaulagiri, Annapurna ranges, Lamjung ranges, Dolpo ranges, Ghorepani / Poonhill and the Kaligandaki valley; worlds deepest gorge. Khayar Lake is a sacred holy ice lake. People believe that to touch in to the water guarantees salvation after death. The people of Gurungs and Magars inhabit this trek. Trekkers need to be fulley self-sufficient in this trek because there are no teahouses between Tadapani and Ghorepani.
Best season to visit: In the spring (March to May) when the rhododendrons, the national flower of Nepal, are in bloom. Also in the fall (September to November) or post-monsoon when the weather is temperate and the skies are clear.
Trek Grade: Moderate. This is not a difficult trek although it has some steep climbs. No mountaineering skills required.
Maximum altitude: 4827m at Khayer Lake
Length of trek: It is advisable to spend one and half week along this route to fully experience the full scenic and cultural splendor.
Accommodations: This is traditionally a teahouse trek with well-maintained facilities along the route. It can also be organized as a camping trek as the valley floor can provide comfortable camping spots in good weather. Camping trek rates and fees are considerably higher as more resources are required.
Additional Information: Trekkers must beware of rubbery while passing through the jungle of Ghorepani, Ghandruk etc. Our experienced porters/guides will help you to avoid potentially unsafe situations.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 01: Pokhara – Ghandruk (Biggest Gurung Village) Via Nayapool: Drive & Trek
One hour drive to Nayapul and walk up to Birethati. After Birethanti, we walk along the terraced fields beneath the splendid panorama of awe-inspiring glaciated Himalayan mountain ranges. After passing a flatland, forest, cultivated lands and a suspension bridge over Khumnu Khola, we arrive at the beautiful village of Ghandruk after walking for three to four hours. An ideal vantages point in this pristine village offers breathtaking views of Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Annapurna III, Machhapuchhre and Hiunchuli. Overnight at Ghandruk
Day 02: Ghandruk – Tadapani: Trek
After breakfast, our trekking starts to Tadapani (2550m) from Ghandruk. The walk will be four hours gradually up.Tadapani means 'far water' as water supply in this village is long distanced.
Day 03: Tadapani – Bhainsikharka: Trek
Day 04: Bhainsikharka – Kristibung: Trek
Day 05: Kristibung – Khopra Phedi: Trek
Day 06: Khopra Phedi – Khopra Danda (A Perfect View Point): Trek
Day 07: Khopra Danda – Jaljala: Trek
Day 08: Jaljala – Khayar Lake – Jaljala: Trek
Day 09: Jaljala – Swanta (Magar Village): Trek
Day 10: Swanta – Ghorepani (A Popular Site For Visitor): Trek
Day 11: Ghorepani – Birenthanti: Trek
Day 12: Birenthanti – Pokhara : Trek and Drive
